Adventures & Memorable Moments
Follow along with me on my journey in life. With this blog I will attempt to share some of the wonderful events taking place in my life and share some of my thoughts.
Brwinów and Warsaw
I was up early as normal, but it was necessary today because I would be leaving Sosnowiec and driving to Brwinów (near Warsaw). Lukasz had to go to work, so I quickly updated photos, blogged, showered & packed up to leave by 7:30
I will see Lukasz again in September when we will take some time to see Prague. I had decided that there was no rush to get to Warsaw, and took it easy stopping often for a rest. Little did I know of the driving adventure ahead of me. There is MAJOR reconstruction of one of the highways to Warsaw and I was met with detours and slow traffic. Thank heavens for the GPS that Lukasz lent me! :)
After about a 5 hour drive, I finally made it to Brwinów and met up with my distant cousin Zbigniew Firkowski and his wfe Dorota. They have a nice cozy home with a beautiful back yard. Lunch was in order and Dorota made something to eat for all of us so we could eat outside. Later Zbigniew and I would meet up with his son Maciek in Warsaw. After we had a chance to sit and visit, Dorota drove us to the train station where Zbigniew and I had a short train ride into Warsaw. We met up with Maciek and toured some areas I had not seen yet. I noticed a lot of new buildings that were not there 5 years ago. It was a good thing that we brought umbrellas as it did finally decide to rain.... not hard but it was still rain.
The next stop was the roof gardens on top of the library of Warsaw University. The gardens are amazing as you will see in my photos. a lof of glass and green, and it makes for a beautiful view of Warsaw. I had been here before, but it is a place that you can enjoy many times. If you ever are in Warsaw you must take the time to go see these beautiful gardens.
Before we would go any further Zbigniew, Maciek and I took a break to relax, enjoy a beer and talk. When it started getting dark we continued on with a night tour of Warsaw.
They have some beautiful new fountains in Warsaw and they have a light show at night. the small fountain had the lights working, but the big fountain has a performance on Saturday evenings... its too bad it was not Saturday.
From the fountains we went to Nowe Miasto (New Town) and took some night photos. There was a restaurant that Zbigniew and Maciek had heard about and wanted to try, so we ate dinner in that resaurant and had a wonderful time.
After dinner we made our way back to the train station to return to Brwinów, but not before taking some more GREAT night photos
