Charles H. (Croschere) Martin
MIDLAND, MI -- Charles H. (Croschere) Martin, 60, of Midland, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2001 at his residence following a long and heroic battle with heart disease.
Charles was born in Marquette on May 9, 1941. He was employed with the Dow Chemical Company, retiring in 1999 after 23 years of service. Charles enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, motorcycles and auto racing. He also loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. Charles was also a hockey fan. On August 20, 1962, in Freeland, Charles married the former Barbara "Peachie" Whiddon. She survives him.
Also surviving are three daughters, Brenda (Sam) Marlatt of Grand Rapids, Dena (Mike) Fritz of Midland and Tina Marie (Alan) Simanskey of Midland; grandchildren, Darryl C. Martin and friend Lindsey Stebner, Ashleigh Tripp and friend John Hanson, Rhea May Fritz and KaiLee Anthony; brothers, Henry L. (Lorraine) Croschere, James (Alice) Croschere, John L. Croschere and Lloyd (Elizabeth) Croschere, all of Marquette; sisters, Nancy Croschere of Illinois and Bonneta (Martin) Allen of Midland; sisters-in-law, Irene Croschere of Marquette and Ruth Croschere of Negaunee; and many nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Florence Whiddon of Midland; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe and Dorothy Marsh of Everett; and cats, Buddy and Cubby; special friends, Bob and Mary Ann Minich, Ellen and Gerald Burkett, Mary Lou Carr, Tim McDaniel, Jim and Connie Frye and many other special friends.
Charles was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Rhea (Gore) Croschere; his adoptive parents, Stanley and Gladys (Spitnale) Martin; five brothers, Leslie "Tap" Sr., William, Robert C., Donald and Richard Croschere; and a sister, May Boyle.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 19, 2001 at the Wilson Miller Funeral Home in Midland with Rev. Ray A. Jacques of the Homer United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in the Homer Township Cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews Robert J., Leslie, Michael and Steven Croschere and nieces JoAnne Morrin and Patty Ann Montagna. Memorials may be directed to local hospice organizations or the American Heart Association.
